Dana Weiss is an artist based in Woodstock, Georgia who employs both traditional and alternative photographic methods to convey her testimony of faith as a Christian. Often delving into dark themes, she illuminates the path to faith, revealing the transformative power of light.
Weiss grew up in Colorado always fascinated by the world around her. She used a camera to document her experiences, which persisted through high school. At this time, she began to focus more on the sciences but still partook in the arts, focusing on film and directing live broadcasts. After attending the University of Georgia to study veterinary medicine and working at a vet clinic, she decided that wasn’t the path for her and transferred to Kennesaw State University to study photography and video. Here, she is learning foundations in the arts that have secured her jobs as a video editor and graphic designer for a start-up. Currently, Weiss is working as a photo technician and Laser Engraver while continuing to develop her artistic voice.
Artist Statement
My art was following an eerie and nonsensical theme. I explored trauma, pain, and confusion by diving into the mind's darkness. But Each piece one after the other began to change. The ideas bubbling from the inside were starting to transfer to the image. Faith was growing inside of me, but I was too afraid to speak. Through perfect love, the fear has begun to recede.
